Program Year 2016-17

September 26 – Progressive Dinner and Organ Crawl, 6:00 p.m.

An opportunity to experience the instrument at three of our local congregations, as well as fellowship with the chapter! The evening’s schedule will be as follows:

6:00 p.m. Appetizers and program at the Basilica of St. Peter and St. Paul (214 E. 8th Street, downtown Chattanooga).

6:45 p.m. Entree and program at First-Centenary United Methodist Church (419 McCallie Avenue, downtown Chattanooga).

7:30 p.m. Program and Dessert at Christ Episcopal Church (663 Douglas Street, downtown Chattanooga).

$15/person, reservation required.

 

October 24 – Halloween-themed “Pedals, Pipes, and Pizza” Spooktacular, 6:30 p.m.

St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 630 Mississippi Ave., Signal Mountain

This program of introduction of the organ to students of all ages. Members are encouraged to attend and to participate in the various needs of the program.

$5/person, reservation required.

 

November 14 – Choral Workshop by Elizabeth Smith of Lois Fyfe Music, 6:30 p.m.

Presentation on choral music resources for all size choirs with a focus on the upcoming calendar of January through Easter.

Covenant Presbyterian Church, 8451 East Brainerd Rd., Chattanooga

6:00 pm Chapter meal and fellowship at a local restaurant TBA

 

December – No Program

 

January 30 – 3rd Annual Student Recital, 7:00 p.m.

Brainerd United Methodist Church, 4315 Brainerd Rd., Chattanooga

A reception will follow.

In conjunction with the January 30 student recital, the chapter will promote “Student Musician Sunday” on January 29th. We encourage all chapter members to seek out local student talent to participate in worship that Sunday.

 

February 16 – Katelyn Emerson Masterclass, AGO 2016 NYACOP Winner, 6:30 p.m.

AGO will sponsor workshop with Katelyn on Thursday evening entitled “Registering historic organ works on contemporary American organs.”

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 305 W. Seventh St., Chattanooga

7:45 pm Chapter meal and fellowship at a local restaurant TBA

St. Paul’s will sponsor Katelyn in a recital the following evening, Friday, February 17.

 

March – No Program

 

April 24 – Dr. Calvert Johnson Narrated recital on Minority Composers, 7:00 p.m.

Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 211 Franklin Rd. at Scenic Highway, Lookout Mountain

A reception will follow.

 

May 22 – Banquet, Elections and Chapter Evensong Service, 6:30 p.m.

First Lutheran Church, 2800 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga
